BASS FISHING REPORTS
APRIL
1998
My shiner guide fishing parties
are catching "big" trophy bass consistently. Below are
a few fishing reports I have managed to put together. Feel free
to call any of them or others that are listed on my web site for
more information about how you can get into this type of action
at "affordable rates" (free lodging and wild shiners)
that Ron's Guide Service offers with his fishing packages.
FLORIDA
WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 21-23, 1998
Larry Lovell (Lawton. MI
- ph: 616-624-4046) and son Larry Jr. (Decatur, MI - ph: 616-423-8428)
caught
54 bass up to 8 lbs. using
shiners during the 3 days (April 21, 22, 23, 1998) they fished
with Ron's Guide Service. All fish were released except the 8
lb'er which is being mounted. The North Shore produced this nice
catch of bass.
FLORIDA
WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 20-24, 1998
Russell Cooper, son Russ
(Marion, OH - e-mail: cooperjr@gte.net) and Cecil Kraner (Columbus,
OH - e-mail: ckraner@sensotec.com) caught 96 bass using wild shiners during the 5 days (April
20 - 24, 1998) they fished with Ron's Guide Service. Cecil caught
two 6 1/2 lb'ers and a 6 1/4 lb "pug nose" bass. They
also landed about 15 bass that ran from 5 - 5 3/4 lbs. All the
bass were released except one 6 1/2 lb'er that was keep for mounting.
The North Shore and Monkey Box yielded this nice catch of bass.

WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 18-20, 1998
Anthony Cantelli and son
Chris (Cherry Hill, NJ - ph: 609-983-1216) caught and released 105 bass up to 5 lbs using shiners during the 3
days (April 18 - 20, 1998) they fished with Ron's Guide Service.
They each had a trophy bass on that managed to get off. Lake Okeechobee's
North Shore produced this terrific action for these anglers.
FLORIDA
WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 15-17, 1998
Jim Ramputi (Uniondale,
NY - e-mail: Jrflukes@aol.com) caught and released 55 bass up to
6 lbs using shiners during
the 3 days (April 15 - 17 1998) they fished with Ron's Guide Service.
The North Shore produced this great action.
FLORIDA
WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 14-16, 1998
Emmett Windham (Cary, NC
- ph: 919-468-0423) and Wayne Cobb (Apex, NC - ph: 919-362-5555)
caught
32 bass on shiners during
the 3 days (April 14 - 16, 1998) they fished with Ron's Guide
Service. Although the fishing was very slow due to heavy winds
that pounded the they did manage to land a 7 1/2 and a 6 1/4 lb'er
along with about eight bass that ran from 5 - 5 1/2 lbs. Fish
were caught in the Iron Stake area of Lake Okeechobee. All the
bass were released.

WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 11-13, 1998
Dave Shuck and John Knapp
(Anderson, IN - ph: 765-644-0645) who fished 3 days (April 11
- 13, 1998) with Ron's Guide Service caught and released 57 bass fishing with shiners. Dave's biggest bass
was a 6 3/4 lb'er. John also caught a 6 1/ 2 lb'er. Lake Okeechobee's
North Shore and Monkey Box areas produced this nice catch of bass.

WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 11, 1998
George and son Gus Steinat
(Winter Springs, FL - ph: 407-359-8240) caught about 30 bass on shiners during the 1 day (April 11,
1998) they fished with Ron's Guide Service. George hooked and
landed
a 9 lb'er while drift fishing
on Lake Okeechobee's North Shore. All fish were released.

WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 10-12, 1998
Sam and wife Jenny Davis
(Shelby, NC - ph: 704-482-8131) caught 43 bass on shiners during the 3 days (April 10,
11, 12, 1998) they fished with Ron's Guide Service. Jenny who
besides catching most of the bass also did land a 8 1/2, 6 3/4 and two 5
lb'ers. All fish were released
except the 8 1/2 lb'er which after it is mounted is going on the
wall in Sam's den. Lake Okeechobee's North Shore produced these
nice fish.

WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 10 & 11, 1998
Larry Cohen and Janet (Plant
City, FL - ph: 813-759-2822) caught about 40 bass on
shiners during the 2 days (April 10, 11, 1998) they fished with
Ron's Guide Service. Larry who hooked and lost a big bass that
broke his line was amazed when Janet hooked and landed a 7 1/2
lb'er the very same fish with Larry's hook and line hanging out
of it's mouth. Janet also landed a 6 1/2 lb'er also. All fish
were released. The North Shore of the produced these fish.
FLORIDA
WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 3-5, 1998
Mark Stiles (Beckly, WV
- ph: 304-934-7912) and Danny Wykle (Beckly, WV - ph: 304-934-5043)
caught
about 50 bass using shiners
during the 3 days (April 3, 4, 5, 1998) they fished with Ron's
Guide Service. Mark landed a 10 3/4 lb'er and a 7 lb'er. Danny also landed a 7 1/2 lb'er. They
had 5 other bass that ran over 5 lbs. Most of the fish were in
the 3 - 4 lb range. All fish were caught on Lake Okeechobee's
North Shore. All fish were released except the 10 3/4 and 7 1/2
lb'ers which are being mounted.
FLORIDA
WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORTS: APRIL 6-8, 1998
Lamar May and his son (Lilburn,
GA - e-mail: lmay@bellsouth.net) caught about 40 bass up to
5 lbs. on shiners during
the 3 days (April 6, 7, 8, 1998) they fished with Ron's Guide
Service. Although they did not manage to boat a trophy bass --
they however did get to see two trophy bass they hooked (that
would of ran in the 8 - 9 lb range) somehow get off at the boat.
The Monkey Box and North Shore of the are the areas that produced
these fish.
