Bass are usually on the
beds during the month of December. This months cooler evening
temperatures will bring in Okeechobee's trophy size bass from
the lake's open water. Heavy weed edges are prime holding areas
during this time of the year. A large wild shiner fished along
this type of structure is a deadly method of fishing.
Harvey Petry (Olney, IL - ph: 618-395-3675) and son caught about
30
bass up to 6 lbs. during
two and the half days (Dec. 31, 1998 - Jan. 3, 1999) of wild shiner
fishing with Rons Guide Service. Bass were caught in the
North Shore and area of Lake Okeechobee. All the bass were live
released.
Wayne Prichard and son (Knoxville, TN - e-mail: prichard@usit.net)
caught more then 40
bass up to 6 1/2 lbs during
2 days (Dec. 27 - 29, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Rons
Guide Service. All the bass were caught on the North Shore of
Lake Okeechobee. All fish were live released.
Tim Tralongo (Glen Burnie, MD - e-mail: TTralongo@aol.com) caught

bass up to 5 lbs during
1 day (Dec. 28, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Rons Guide
Service. All the bass were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee.
All fish were live released.
Charlie Todd (Bessemer, Al.- e-mail: CTodd9234@aol.com) and Seth
Vines (Bessemer, AL) caught more then 100 bass that included two 6 lbers
and a 7 lber during
3 days (Dec. 25, 26 and 27, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with
Rons Guide Service. All the bass were caught on the North
Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All fish were live released.
Dick Holmes (Plantation, FL - e-mail: CalohH@aol.com) and Scott
Simmons caught 16
bass which included a 6 and 6 1/2 lber
during 2 half day sessions (Dec. 21 and 22, 1998) of wild shiner
fishing with Rons Guide Service. Dick caught the 6 and 6
1/2 lber while Scott put a 5 lber in the boat. All
bass were caught in the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee. All
the bass were live released.
Dave Larson (Radcliff, KY - ph: 502-352-4660) and Eritt Oden (Ft.
Knox, KY) caught 26
bass that included a 5 1/2, 6, and 7 lber during 2 half day sessions (Dec. 20, and
21, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Rons Guide Service.
All the bass were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee.
All the bass were live released.
Bob and Sandra Lanoue (Catoosa, OK - e-mail: srlanoue@aol.com)
caught 10
bass up to 5 lbs. during
2 half day sessions (Dec. 16, and 17, 1998) of wild shiner fishing
with Rons Guide Service.Bass were caught on the North Shore
of Lake Okeechobee. All the bass were live released
Jesey Celis (St. Louis, MO - ph: 314-922-9278) and Dr. Jose Cariaga
caught 10
bass up to 6 1/2 lbs. during
2 half day sessions (Dec. 14, and 15, 1998) of wild shiner fishing
with Rons Guide Service. Four bass that were caught went
from 5 - 5 1/2 lbs. All the bass were caught on the North Shore
of Lake Okeechobee. All the bass were live released.
Jim Estes sr. and (Golf Pro) son Jim jr. (Chicago, IL - ph: 630-244-0020)
caught 17
bass up to 6 1/4 lbs. during
2 half day sessions (Dec. 9 and 10, 1998) of wild shiner fishing
with Rons Guide Service. Jim jr. caught the 6 1/4 lber
while his dad also put a 6 lber in the boat. This catch
of bass was caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All
the bass were live released.
Brian Marcyjanik (Orlando, FL - e-mail: BAMarcyj@aol.com) caught

bass up to 5 1/2 lbs. during
2 half days (Dec. 5, 6, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Rons
Guide Service. All bass were caught on the North Shore of Lake
Okeechobee. All bass were released.
John Campobasso (Hazel Green, AL - e-mail: T-Vols@webtv.net) and
Jeff Hipp (Hazel Green, AL) caught 37 bass up to 7 1/4 lbs. during 3 days (Dec. 4 - 6, 1998) of wild
shiner fishing with Rons Guide Service. Jeff caught and
released the 7 1/4 lb'er. Bass were caught on the North Shore
of Okeechobee. All bass were released.
Dennis Molette (Havertown, PA - ph: 610-449-1878) caught 10 bass up to
5 lbs. during a half day
(Dec. 2, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Rons Guide Service.
This catch of bass came out of the North Shore area of Okeechobee.
All bass were released.
