Florida bass fishing during January 1999 produced some fine catches of bass. The mild weather was a big factor that kept the bass active throughtout most of the month. The best trophy bass fishing catches were of course made by anglers fishing with the Florida wild shiner.

Jim Hershey and brother Rickey (Atlanta, GA - e-mail: JHershey@magbee.com) caught
24 bass up to 5 1/2 lbs. during a day and the half (Jan. 30 & 31, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore and Moonshine areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.



Rick Dyderski (Detriot, MI - e-mail: redyderski@dmci.net) caught
30 bass up to 6 lbs. during two half days (Jan. 28 and 29, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.



Ronnie Conard (Canton, NC - ph: 828-648-8062) and Alan Pressley (Clyde, NC - ph: 828-629-0887) caught 80 bass which included a 7 lb’er during 3 days (Jan. 25 - 27, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Alan caught the 7 lb’er. All 80 bass were caught in the North Shore and Moonshine areas of Lake Okeechobee. All the bass were live released.



Bob Lemois (Jupiter, FL - ph: 561-7474254) caught
39 bass which included two that weighed 7 lbs. and one that weighed 8 3/4 lbs. during 2 half days (Jan. 25 & 26, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Bass were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.



Steve Simon (Herndon, VA - ph: 703-437-1595) and Richard Harold (e-mail: rwharold@worldnet.att.net) caught
24 bass up to 6 1/4 lbs. during 1 day (Jan. 22, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Steve caught and released the 6 1/4 lb’er. Bass were caught drifting the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.



Pete and Cecelia Girardi (Broadway, NJ - e-mail: chgirardi@yahoo.com) caught about
20 bass up to 4 lbs. during 2 half days (Jan. 19 & 20, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Steve caught and released the 6 1/4 lb’er. Bass were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.



Bruce Neal (Johnstown, OH - e-mail: bassman277@yahoo.com) and Randy Barclay (Amlin, OH) caught 170 + bass during 5 days (Jan. 18 - 22, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Bruce caught a 7 1/2 lb’er while Randy boated a 6 1/2 lb’er. They also had numerous bass that were in the 5 lb. range during the 5 days they bass fished. All of the 170 + bass caught were live released. The bass were caught in several areas on Lake Okeechobee with the North Shore, Monkey Box and Moonshine Bay producing the bulk of the fish.



Brad Williams, son Bart (Deleven, NY - e-mail: williamb@koike.com) and father-in-law Gordon McElheany caught at least 100 bass during three half days of fishing (Jan. 17 - 19, 1999) with Ron's Guide Service. Their biggest bass were 5 lbs. and they caught three of these along with several in the 2-3 pound range. They fished the Hay Fields of Okeechobee. All fish were released.



Ron Watson, son Bobby (Lansdale, PA - e-mail: rlwesq@dplus.net) and grandfather Bill Kader (Rock Hall, MD) caught
49 bass up to 6 3/4 lbs. during 3 days (Jan. 16 - 18, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Bobby’s grandfather caught the 6 3/4 lb’er while Bobby caught a 5 and a 5 1/2 lb. bass. Bass were caught out of the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.



Duanne and Ann Swift (Green Bay, WI - e-mail: pres@titletown.org - e-mail: annswift@netnet.net) caught
11 bass up to 7 1/4 lbs. during a half day (Jan. 12, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Duanne (President of the Green Bay area Chamber of Commerce) caught and released the 7 1/4 lb’er. Fish were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.


Charlotte Kemmler and Charlie Miller (Louisville, KY - ph: 502-893-8648) caught 15 bass up to 6 lbs. during two half days (Jan. 11 & 12, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Charlotte of course caught the 6 lb'er. Fish were caught and released on the North Shore of Okeechobee.



Rod Spurlin (Warsaw, IN - ph: 219-594-3067), Heath and Nick Gaerte (Warsaw, IN - ph: 219-267-1825) caught
30 bass up to 5 lbs. during one day (Jan. 4, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. They also caught two mudfish that weighed 12 lbs. each, two 5 lb. catfish, a seagull, pelican and a commorant. Needless to say they released all fish and birds. This mixed bag was caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee.

This Special Rate of only $180.00 is for 1 person and includes: 2 (four hour) half days of shiner bass fishing, 1 night of motel lodging free of charge, 6 dozen shiners free of charge, USCG licensed guide, bass boat, fuel and all tackle.

We require 2 persons on our Special Rate.

Required Deposit for 2 persons is $180.00

Third person 2 half day 1 night rate charge is $100.00 additional and includes 2 (four hour) half days of shiner bass fishing, 1 room for 3 persons for 1 night of motel lodging free of charge, 2 dozen extra shiners free of charge, USCG licensed guide, bass boat, fuel and all tackle.
