I have managed to
put together a Florida bass fishing report for the month of March.
My Florida bass fishing guide parties have been consistently catching
good numbers of trophy Florida bass. The Florida wild shiner is
of course the only bait that will really entice a big bass. Trophy
size bass have been holding in large numbers along the North Shore
of Lake Okeechobee. Guides have been doing good drifting the open
areas as well as anchoring down off the weed lines.
Bob Doyle (Wilmington, MA - e-mail: Bob.Doyle@fmr.com) caught
and released approximately 70 bass
during 3 days (Mar. 28, 29, 30, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with
Ron's Guide Service. The three largest bass weighed in at 8 1/2 lbs., 8
1/4 lbs. and 6 1/2 lbs.
All fish were caught on Lake Okeechobee's North Shore.
Bill Allen (Akron, OH - ph: 330-673-8578)
who caught and released 54 bass up to 7 lbs. when
he last fished with Ron's Guide Service in 1995 - did on this
3 day (Mar, 25, 26, 27, 1998) trip with Bob McQuown (Chagrin Falls,
OH - ph: 216-248-1288) catch and released approximately the same
amount of fish including an 8 lb'er. All fish were caught on Lake
Okeechobee's North Shore.
