The month of May brings on some of the finest
largemouth bass and panfish (bluegill, shellcracker) fishing Lake
Okeechobee has to offer. Schooling bass are now starting to bust
bait fish all over the lake most of the day. My guide parties
are enjoying excellent bass fishing which has them jumping out
of their seats when a bass explodes on the surface and blows their
wild shiner clear out of the water. Live bait, the preferred wild
shiner of course is what trophy bass are caught more consistently
with. However, artificial lures at this time of the year really
do produce big catch's of fish and a trophy every so often. Fly
rod fishing whether it's for bass or bluegills can't be beat.
