LAKE OKEECHOBEE FISHING REPORT:
SEPTEMBER 1998
lake okeechobee fishing
September's cooler evenings which start to cool the lake waters will really help to turn the fish on as the month progresses. Our afternoon showers are also very helpful in cooling down the lake waters. Schooling bass are everywhere especially along the North Shore area of Okeechobee. Some of the local fishermen are catching speck's (crappie) along the weed edges in Sportsman's Canal. Schoolers also working the weed edges along the canal edges. Bluegill fishing along these edges has been producing some nice stringers.

LAKE OKEECHOBEE FISHING REPORT: SEPTEMBER 26 & 27, 1998

Robin Petley (Fulton, MS - e-mail: genarobn@network-one.com) and Dereck Johnson caught 45 bass up to 5 lbs. during 2 days (Sept. 26 and 27, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. These guys who arrived while hurricane Georges was in full fury battled winds and rain during their trip. The fish which were hitting great due to the storm conditions made up for the poor weather. These guys ran out of shiners overtime they went out and in fact used 5 dozen in an hour and the half one morning. Sure they missed a lot of fish, however they had a ball. Fish were caught all over the lake in the sheltered areas. All bass were released.
