Florida bass fishing references
from the state of Colorado. I have put together a Florida bass
fishing report of trophy bass caught using shiners by Colorado
residents. Their name, address,
home phone number and e-mail address (if they have one) are also included
so as to verify the contents and afford prospective clientele
the opportunity to get first hand information from folks who have
fished with our guide service.
Florida wild shiner bass
fishing brothers Greg Corey (Aruado, CO - ph: 303-456-2555 - e-mail:
gregmobil@aol.com) and Tim Corey (Sioux Falls, SD - ph: 605-339-0939)
caught and released
about 60 bass that included a 7 lb. and two 6 lb'ers during 3 days of wild shiner fishing on
March 11, 12, 13, 2003 with Ron's Guide Service. Greg caught the
7 lb'er. His brother Tim caught two 6 lb'ers. Bass were caught
in the Moonshine area of Lake Okeechobee.

Lake Okeechobee
bass fishing angler John Davis (Montrose, CO - ph: 970-240-5336)
caught about 20 bass that included a 6 1/2 lb'er during 2 half days of wild shiner fishing
with Ron's Guide Service on April 8 & 9, 2002. All bass were released.
Bass were caught in the North
Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

10, 2001
Florida wild shiner bass
fishing anglers John Strain and his son Braindon (Elbert, CO -
ph: 719-749-0235 - e-mail: dstrain@gateway.net) caught and released 19 bass up to 6 lbs
during 1 day (June 10, 2001) of bass fishing with Ron's Guide
Service. They fished Lake Okeechobee's Harney Pond Canal during
their morning session of fishing and Sportsman Canal during their
afternoon session of fishing.
Florida wild shiner bass
fishing anglers Bob Westlund and his 15 year-old son Chadd (Aurora,
CO - ph: 303-690-7805 - e-mail: JBwestlund@home.com) caught and released 18 bass
up to 5 lbs during 2 half days (June 9 & 10, 2001) of bass
fishing with Cap'n Ron. Chadd caught the 5 lb'er. They also bluegill
fished a half day on June 11, 2001 and caught about 200 big bluegills
on live crickets and beetle-spins. I fished Lake Okeechobee's
Sportsman Canal during our afternoon session of bass fishing and
the Point Of The Reef areas out on Lake Okeechobee during our
morning session of bass and bluegill fishing.
Neal and dad Ed Smith (Colorado
Springs, CO - ph: 719-472-6608 - e-mail: GaDeerman@aol.com or
Mksnurse@aol.com) caught and released 65 bass up to 8 lbs during
3 days (Apr. 9 - 11, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide
Service. Neal's dad caught and released the 8 lb'er. Bass where
caught in the Monkey Box and Moonshine areas of Lake Okeechobee.
Gene and Kathy
Alden (Canon City, CO - ph: 719-269-3062 - e-mail:
genekath@ris.net) caught and released 16 bass up to 5 lbs during 2 half days (Feb. 1 & 2, 1999)
of fishing on Lake Okeechobee with Ron's Guide Service. All the
bass which were released were caught in the North Shore area of
Okeechobee.
Al Brown (Golden, CO - ph: 303-5261468 - e-mail: Asicmaster@aol.com)
caught 15 bass up to 8 1/4 lbs. using shiners during 1
day of fishing (Feb. 13, 1998) on Florida's Lake Okeechobee with
Captain Ron. All the bass caught including the trophy were released.
