Florida bass fishing references from the state of Kansas. I have put together a Lake Okeechobee bass fishing report of trophy bass caught using shiners by Kansas residents. Their name, address, home phone number and e-mail address (if they have one) are also included so as to verify the contents and afford prospective clientele the opportunity to get first hand information from folks who have fished with our guide service.

This Cormorant which was hooked and released unharmed while it was diving and searching for a meal caught and ate one of our wild shiner baited lines. It put up a good fight and had us believing we had a trophy bass on the line until it surfaced!

This dad and son Florida bass fishing team did however manage to catch a good amount of Florida bass as the below Florida bass fishing report notes:

Florida bass fishing dad Ken McAlister and 15 year-old son Andrew (Andover, KS - ph: 316-218-0340 - e-mail: mcalisterkg@veracom.net) caught 34 Florida bass that included a 6 1/2 lb., 5 1/2 lb. and 5 1/4 lb. bass during 2 half days (Jul. 25 & 26, 2000) of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron. Andews dad caught the 6 1/2 lb. bass during the same time Andrew was fighting the 5 1/2 lb'er. Andrew also caught the 5 1/4 lb. bass. We fished the Harney Pond Canal cuts of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Richard Smith (Mound City, KS - ph: 913-352-8411), Mike Shearman (Savannah, MO - ph: 816-662-2211 - e-mail: mikebechykevin@juno.com), and John O'Brien (Ralston, NE - ph: 402-339-5412) caught and released about 50 bass up to 5 lbs during 2 half days (Mar. 21 & 22, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Bass where caught in the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee.

Ed Heath (Wichita, KS - ph: 316-722-3340 - e-mail: heathlaw@swbell.net) and Mike Payne (Newton, KS - ph: 316-283-3362) caught 33 bass up to 5 lbs. during 2 half day sessions (Oct. 16 and 17, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Bass were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All the bass were live released.

Florida bass fishing couple Kyle & Cassie Cure (Manhattan, KS - ph: 785-494-2571) caught 8 Florida bass up to 6 1/4 lbs. during a half day (July 26, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Cassie caught and released the 6 1/4 lb’er.

Honeymoon couple Dan & Lacee Sell (Stilwater, KS - ph: 913-851-2044 - e-mail: lgoldie@yahoo.com) caught 29 bass up to 5 lbs. during 2 half days of fishing (July 24 & 25, 1998) with Ron’s Guide Service. Although Dan caught the two 5 lb’ers. Lacee whipped him in amount of fish landed. All bass were released.
