FLORIDA BASS FISHING REFERENCES FROM: MICHIGAN

Florida bass fishing references from the State Of Michigan. I have put together a Lake Okeechobee bass fishing report with pictures of trophy bass caught using shiners by Mitcigan residents. Their name, address, home phone number and e-mail address (if they have one) are also included so as to verify the contents and afford prospective clientele the opportunity to get first hand information from folks who have fished with our guide service.



FLORIDA WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORT:
APRIL 28, 2003

Florida wild shiner bass fishing anglers (father & son) Craig & Brad Nelson (Parta, MI - ph: 616-887-9535 - e-mail: JNelson@wensco.com) caught and released about 15 bass that included a 6 1/2 lb'er during 2 half days (February 25 & 26, 2001) of Florida wild shiner bass fishing with with Ron's Guide Service. Craig's son Brad caught the 6 1/2 lb'er. Bass were caught in Harney Pond canal area of Lake Okeechobee.

Mike Ashcraft Jr., his dad Mike Sr. (Waterford, MI - ph: 248-673-5253 - e-mail: ashcraftmi@plunkettlaw.com) and 2 other fishermen in 2 guide boats caught about 80 Florida bass between them up to 6 1/4 lbs during 3 days (Apr. 29, 30, May 1, 2000) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore, Moonshine and Monkey Box areas of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Jim Kulha (Livonia, MI - ph: 734-462-2229 - e-mail: Jkool92@aol.com) and Jim Jury (Plymounth, MI - ph: 734-454-7643 - e-mail: Jury@mediaone.net) caught 29 bass that included a 5 1/2, 5 3/4, 6 and a 8 lb'er during 2 days (Mar. 29 and 30, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron. Jim Kulha caught the 8 lb'er which he is having mounted. Jim Jury caught and released the 6 lb'er. Bass where caught in the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee.

Hi, The motel was great, I got a little apprehensive when the guy's didn't make it back by check out, but the clerk was great and said not to worry, they sometimes stay a little longer and he wouldn't throw us out. William caught a 6 lb. bass and was informed it would be on the Internet, we keep checking. William and his dad really enjoyed the fishing, they went deep sea fishing in Islemarada and his dad only caught one fish, William had 3 and they got off, one bit the hook off and the other two came off at the knot after the sinker, they were quite disappointed with that adventure. Mike and Linder Perks (Stanton, MI - ph: 517-831-8609 - e-mail: linrob@pathwaynet.com) on their "honeymoon" caught and released about 30 bass that included a 5 1/2 lb'er that Linder caught during 2 half days (Mar. 18 and 19, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Bass where caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

Rick Dyderski (Detriot, MI - e-mail: redyderski@dmci.net) caught 30 bass up to 6 lbs. during two half days (Jan. 28 and 29, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Larry Lovell (Lawton. MI - ph: 616-624-4046) and son Larry Jr. (Decatur, MI - ph: 616-423-8428) caught 54 bass up to 8 lbs. using shiners during the 3 days (April 21 - 23, 1998) they fished with Ron's Guide Service. All fish were released except the 8 lb'er which is being mounted. The North Shore produced this nice catch of bass.

Had a guide party: Dave Karasinki (Warren, MI - ph: 810-264-8829) and Bob Taylor (Warren, MI - ph: 810-939-6278) out fishing with wild shiners on Lake Okeechobee. We battled 25 mile winds and rain all day to land only 13 bass. Dave however landed two 7 lb'ers and a 6 3/4 lb'er which helped make up for the terrible weather conditions.

James McCreadie (Livonia, MI ph: 313-261-1915) and Kurt Rigstad (Brighton, MI - ph: 810-231-4482) caught 24 bass up to 5 lbs. during one day of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron.

Jim Howenstine (Clarkston, MI - home ph: 810-625-3800) and Brent Tran (Canton, MI - home ph: 313-394-0232) caught and released 18 bass up to 4 1/2 lbs. We used wild shiners fished in the pepper grass beds around the point of the reef.
