Florida bass fishing references from the state of New Jersey. I have put together a Lake Okeechobee bass fishing report with pictures of trophy bass caught using shiners by New Jersey residents. Their name, address, home phone number and e-mail address (if they have one) are also included so as to verify the contents and afford prospective clientele the opportunity to get first hand information from folks who have fished with our guide service.

FLORIDA WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORT:
Bass Fishing Reports - June 23 & 24, 2003

Bass fishing anglers Tom Snyder, his wife Deb and nephew Bryant (Mount Holly, NJ - ph: 609-265-8756 - e-mail: tlsnyder3@comcast.net) caught and released 68 bass up to 4 1/4 lbs during 2 days of shiner and artificial plastic worm fishing with Cap'n Ron on June 23rd. and Captain Bob on June 24th., 2003. Tom's wife Deb caught the 4 1/4 lb'er that would of went at least 6 or more pounds if it had some body weight. Tom also caught a 4 lb'er. Tom's 8 year-old nephew Bryant caught about 30 of the 68 bass landed. Bass were caught mostly on plastic worm in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

Bass Fishing Report - June 9 & 10, 2003

Bass fishing anglers Scott Possiel (Jackson, NJ - ph: 732-833-7415 - e-mail: sdpjmp@optonline.net) and 2 friends caught and released 19 bass up to 3 lbs during 2 half days of shiner and artificial plastic worm fishing with Cap'n Ron on the mornings of June 9th. & 10th., 2003. Bass were caught mostly on plastic worm in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

FEBRUARY 22 - 24, 2002

Lake Okeechobee bass fishing angler Vincent Burke (West Berlin, NJ - ph: 856-767-2197 - e-mail: zootman156@aol.com) caught about 20 bass up to 4 lbs during 4 half days (Feb. 22 - 24, 2002) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Cold front and windy conditions shut the fish down during the time they were here. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

FEBRUARY 19 & 20, 2002

Florida wild shiner trophy bass fishing father and son team John Sr. and Jr. Skimelis (Shrewsbury, NJ - ph: 732-741-7271 - e-mail: Bass7015@aol.com) caught 6 bass that included a 5 lb. and 8 1/4 lb. bass during 2 half days (Feb. 19 & 20, 2002) of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron. John Jr. caught the 8 1/4 lb'er. His dad caught the 5 lb'er. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee. This has been their 7th. bass fishing trip on Lake Okeechobee with Captain Ron in 7 years. On their last year trip of 3 days (April 9 -11, 2001) of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron John Jr. caught a 8 3/4 lb. and 6 3/4 lb. bass. On their 3 days (April 23 - 25, 2000) trip of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron they in fact set a three day record by catching one 7 1/2, two 7's, one 6 1/2 and two 6 lb'ers out of the 78 bass landed on that trip. All bass that were landed on this trip were released except the 8 1/4 lb'er that was kept for mounting.

MAY 31, June 1 & 2, 2001

Florida wild shiner bass fishing anglers Eric Metrokotsas (Piscataway, NJ - ph:732-968-0787 - e-mail: eric_metrokotsas@merck.com) and Anthony Delillo (South Plainfield, NJ - e-mail: anthony_delillo@merck.com) caught and released about 25 bass up to 5 lbs during 2 days (May 31, June 1 & 2, 2001) of wild shiner bass fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Bass were caught in the Harney Pond Canal area of Lake Okeechobee.



FLORIDA WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORT:
APRIL 9 - 11, 2001

Florida wild shiner trophy bass fishing father and son team John Sr. and Jr. Skimelis (Shrewsbury, NJ - ph: 732-741-7271 - e-mail: Bass7015@aol.com) caught only 29 bass because of very windy conditions that included a 8 3/4 lb. and a 6 3/4 lb. bass during 3 days (April 9 -11, 2001) of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron. John Jr. caught the 8 3/4 lb'er and the 6 3/4 lb'er. Bass were caught at the point of the reef area of Lake Okeechobee. This has been their 6th. bass fishing trip on Lake Okeechobee with Captain Ron in 7 years. On their last year trip of 3 days of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron (April 23 - 25, 2000) they in fact set a three day record by catching one 7 1/2, two 7's, one 6 1/2 and two 6 lb'ers out of the 78 bass landed on that trip. All bass that were landed on this trip were released except the 8 3/4 lb'er that was kept for mounting.

APRIL 10, 2001

Florida wild shiner bass fishing anglers Andy Feinberg (Wayne, NJ - ph: 973-595-1918) and Mike Vitello caught and released about 10 bass that included a 8 lb'er during a half day (April 10, 2001) of wild shiner bass fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Mike caught the 8 lb'er. They fished the Harney Pond canal area of Lake Okeechobee.

MARCH 11 & 12, 2001

Florida wild shiner bass fishing couple James & Michelle Ellis (Summerset, NJ - ph: 732-545-8858 - e-mail: ellisiv@email.msn.com) caught and released about 15 bass that included a 6 1/4 lb. and 6 lb. bass during 2 half days of Florida wild shiner bass fishing with with Ron's Guide Service on March 11 & 12, 2001. Michelle caught the 6 1/4 lb'er. James got the 6 lb'er. Bass were caught in Harney Pond canal area of Lake Okeechobee.

Florida trophy bass fishing father and son team John Sr. and Jr. Skimelis (Shrewsbury, NJ - ph: 732-741-7271 - e-mail: Bass7015@aol.com) caught 78 bass that included one 7 1/2, two 7's, one 6 1/2 and two 6 lb'ers during 3 days (April 23 - 25, 2000) of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron. John Sr. caught one 6 lb'er. His son John Jr. caught all of the other trophy size bass as well as 75 of the 78 bass landed on this trip. This was their fifth trip to Lake Okeechobee in six years with Captain Ron. They in fact set a three day record with Ron's Guide Service byflorida bass fishing, florida trophy bass, wild shiner fishing, USCG licensed guide service landing six bass from 6 - 7 1/2 lbs in three days! All bass that were landed were released except the 7 1/2 lb'er that was kept for mounting. All bass were caught in the Fisheating Creek area of Lake Okeechobee.

Tim and 11 year old son Carl Polijczuk (Camden, NJ - ph: 856-931-0237) caught 36 bass up to 6 lbs. during one day (Nov. 23, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Carl caught the 6 lb'er. All bass which were released were caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

John Jr. and his dad caught 32 bass up to 7 1/2 lbs. using shiners during the 3 days (July 8 - 10, 1999) they fished on this trip (their fourth) with Captain Ron. All bass were caught using shiners and released except for the 7 1/2 lb trophy bass that is being mounted.Lake Okeechobee Florida trophy bass picture All fish were caught in the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee. John on his "third fishing trip" (June 24 - 26, 1998) with Captain Ron caught a 8 1/2 lb. Florida trophy bass on (June 26, 1998) John Jr., his dad and sister Karen (e-mail: KRNNC@aol.com) caught and released about 45 bass up to 5 lbs. during the 3 days (June 24 - 26, 1998) they fished with wild shiners. On this trip "their third since June 1995 with Captain Ron" we dubbed John's sister Karen the "Mudfish Queen" after she hooked and caught at least 25 mudfish that ran florida fishing USCG captain, florida bass fishing wild shiner reports, lake okeechobeein weight from 5 - 8 lbs. On their "first trip" (June 15 -17, 1995) John Jr. hooked and landed a 9 lb. Lake Okeechobee trophy bass. He also landed and released a 6 1/2 lb'er and 64 other bass from 2-5 lbs. John also caught a 5 1/2 lb. Snook (Snook and Tarpon are occasionally caught in Lake Okeechobee). All bass were caught using shiners and released except for the 9 lb. trophy bass that is being mounted. Captain Ron was their bass fishing guide.



Pete and Cecelia Girardi (Broadway, NJ - ph: 908-689-4074 - e-mail: chgirardi@yahoo.com) caught about 20 bass up to 4 lbs. during 2 half days (Jan. 19 & 20, 1999) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Steve caught and released the 6 1/4 lb’er. Bass were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.

Werner and his wife each caught a 6 1/2 lb. bass. Both of these 6 1/2 lb’ers hit only seconds apart and were in fact on the line at the very same time! All bass were caught on the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee. All the bass were live released.



Honeymoon couple Paul and Leslie Hackett (Atco, NJ - ph: 609-753-5140) caught 35 bass up to 4 1/2 lbs. during 2 days (Aug. 5 - 7, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Ron’s Guide Service. Besides the good fishing this trip was a surprise wedding gift to Paul from Leslie.


Anthony Cantelli and son Chris (Cherry Hill, NJ - ph: 609-983-1216) caught and released 105 bass up to 5 lbs using shiners during the 3 days (April 18 - 20, 1998) they fished with Ron's Guide Service. They each had a trophy bass on that managed to get off. Lake Okeechobee's North Shore produced this terrific action for these anglers



Lake Okeechobee trophy bass7 lb. Lake Okeechobee bass caught by Barbara Turkus (Fords, NJ - ph: 732-738-7613). Barbara also landed a 6 3/4 lb'er during Okeechobee trophy bassthis trip (her third) and has a 6 and a 6½ lb'er mounted from two previous Lake Okeechobee trips. Her husband Tom (a New Jersey policeman) who has been out fished by his wife finally hooked and landed a 7 lb'er on this trip. All the fish (approx. 56 bass) were caught using shiners and were released except the two 7 lb'ers. Captain Ron was their fishing guide.



Hiroshi and wife Kaori Sogabe (Cliffton Park, NJ - ph: 201-313-5703) caught and released a 6 1/2 lb'er wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron.



Okeechobee trophy bass

8 lb. Okeechobee trophy bass caught by Nancy Militig (Cream Ridge, NJ - ph: 609-758-8840). Nancy and Brian caught about 60 bass during 3 days of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron. This couple released all the fish caught.



Okeechobee trophy bass10 lb. Okeechobee trophy bass was caught by Michael Ponte (West Orange, NJ - ph: 201-736-2122 - 201-674-2254). This "huge" Florida bass and another 7 3/4 lb'er that fell for a wild shiner was landed by Michael with a little help from his dad Frank. Captain Ron guided this father and son team to this fine catch.



Guided Mike Lirosi (North Bergan, NJ ph: 201-868-5155) and his dad Vinny (Ridgefield, NJ ph: 201-941-3957) to 61 bass up to 6 lbs. during the three days they fished with me. All the bass were caught using shiners and all fish were released. The fishing has been great in that my clients are using 8 dozen shiners per day. Ok they are missing fish but on the other hand they are having a ball. Mike and his dad fished with me two years ago in July 1995. At that time they landed 84 bass in three days of fishing. Mike caught a 7 lb'er and his dad landed a 8 1/2 lb Tarpon. Yes Tarpon as well as Snook are caught in Lake Okeechobee every so often. I have had parties catch several Snook in the 14 years 1 have been guiding on Okeechobee.

This Special Rate of only $180.00 is for 1 person and includes: 2 (four hour) half days of shiner bass fishing, 1 night of motel lodging free of charge, 6 dozen shiners free of charge, USCG licensed guide, bass boat, fuel and all tackle.

We require 2 persons on our Special Rate.

Required Deposit for 2 persons is $180.00

Third person 2 half day 1 night rate charge is $100.00 additional and includes 2 (four hour) half days of shiner bass fishing, 1 room for 3 persons for 1 night of motel lodging free of charge, 2 dozen extra shiners free of charge, USCG licensed guide, bass boat, fuel and all tackle.
