Florida bass fishing anglers Ray & Angela Ervey (Montville, NJ - ph: 973-299-9485 - e-mail: ANRZOSK@aol.com) caught and released about 12 bass up to 4 lbs during 2 half days of shiner fishing on April 6 & 7, 2003 with Ron's Guide Service. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.
FLORIDA WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORT:
MARCH 24 & 25, 2003
Florida wild shiner bass fishing anglers Andy Feinberg (Wayne, NJ - ph: 973-595-1918) and Mike Vitello caught and released about 10 bass that included a 8 lb'er during a half day (April 10, 2001) of wild shiner bass fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Mike caught the 8 lb'er. They fished the Harney Pond canal area of Lake Okeechobee.

MARCH 11 & 12, 2001
Florida wild shiner bass fishing couple James & Michelle Ellis (Summerset, NJ - ph: 732-545-8858 - e-mail: ellisiv@email.msn.com) caught and released about 15 bass that included a 6 1/4 lb. and 6 lb. bass during 2 half days of Florida wild shiner bass fishing with with Ron's Guide Service on March 11 & 12, 2001. Michelle caught the 6 1/4 lb'er. James got the 6 lb'er. Bass were caught in Harney Pond canal area of Lake Okeechobee.

7 1/2, two 7's, one 6 1/2 and two 6 lb. Florida BassFlorida trophy bass fishing father and son team John Sr. and Jr. Skimelis (Shrewsbury, NJ - ph: 732-741-7271 - e-mail: Bass7015@aol.com) caught 78 bass that included one 7 1/2, two 7's, one 6 1/2 and two 6 lb'ers during 3 days (April 23 - 25, 2000) of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron. John Sr. caught one 6 lb'er. His son John Jr. caught all of the other trophy size bass as well as 75 of the 78 bass landed on this trip. This was their fifth trip to Lake Okeechobee in six years with Captain Ron. They in fact set a three day record with Ron's Guide Service by
landing six bass from 6 - 7 1/2 lbs in three days! All bass that were landed were released except the 7 1/2 lb'er that was kept for mounting. All bass were caught in the Fisheating Creek area of Lake Okeechobee.
This catch of six Florida trophy bass caught during 3 days of wild shiner fishing on Lake Okeechobee set a Ron's
Guide Service record for the most trophy bass over 6 lbs caught by a party during 3 days of wild shiner fishing!

trophy bass was caught on
(July 8, 1999) by John Skimelis Jr. (Shrewsbury, NJ - home ph:
732-741 -4017 - e-mail: Bass7015@aol.com). John Jr. and his dad
caught 32 bass up to 7 1/2 lbs. using shiners during the 3 days
(July 8 - 10, 1999) they fished on this trip (their fourth) with
Captain Ron. All bass were caught using shiners and released except
for the 7 1/2 lb trophy bass that is being mounted.
All fish were
caught in the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee. John on his
"third fishing trip" (June 24 - 26, 1998) with Captain
Ron caught a 8
1/2 lb. Florida trophy bass
on (June 26, 1998) John Jr., his dad and sister Karen (e-mail:
KRNNC@aol.com) caught and released about 45 bass up to 5 lbs.
during the 3 days (June 24 - 26, 1998) they fished with wild shiners.
On this trip "their third since June 1995 with Captain
Ron" we dubbed John's sister Karen the "Mudfish Queen"
after she hooked and caught at least 25 mudfish that ran
in weight
from 5 - 8 lbs. On their "first trip" (June 15
-17, 1995) John Jr. hooked and landed a 9 lb. Lake Okeechobee trophy bass. He also landed and released a 6 1/2 lb'er
and 64 other bass from 2-5 lbs. John also caught a 5 1/2 lb. Snook
(Snook and Tarpon are occasionally caught in Lake Okeechobee).
All bass were caught using shiners and released except for the
9 lb. trophy bass that is being mounted. Captain Ron was their
bass fishing guide.
Werner and wife Aleci Siegle (Runnermede,
NJ - ph: 609-939-4270) caught 24 bass which included two 6 1/2
lbers during 2 half day sessions (Nov. 3, 4, 1998) of wild
shiner fishing with Rons Guide Service. Werner and his wife
each caught a 6 1/2 lb. bass. Both of these 6 1/2 lbers
hit only seconds apart and were in fact on the line at the very
same time! All bass were caught on the North Shore area of Lake
Okeechobee. All the bass were live released.
7 lb. Lake Okeechobee bass caught
by Barbara Turkus (Fords, NJ - ph: 732-738-7613). Barbara also
landed a 6 3/4 lb'er during
this trip (her third) and
has a 6 and a 6½ lb'er mounted from two previous Lake Okeechobee
trips. Her husband Tom (a New Jersey policeman) who has been out
fished by his wife finally hooked and landed a 7 lb'er on this
trip. All the fish (approx. 56 bass) were caught using shiners
and were released except the two 7 lb'ers. Captain Ron was their
fishing guide.
10 lb. Okeechobee trophy bass was caught by Michael Ponte (West Orange,
NJ - ph: 201-736-2122 - 201-674-2254). This "huge" Florida
bass and another 7 3/4 lb'er that fell for a wild shiner
was landed by Michael with a little help from his dad Frank. Captain
Ron guided this father and son team to this fine catch.
