FLORIDA BASS FISHING REFERENCES
FROM: PENNSYLVANIA Florida bass fishing references
from the State Of Pennsylvania. I have put together a Florida
bass fishing report of trophy bass caught using shiners by Pennsylvania
residents. Their name, address,
home phone number and e-mail address (if they have one) are also included
so as to verify the contents and afford prospective clientele
the opportunity to get first hand information from folks who have
fished with our guide service.
Bass fishing anglers Dave Wilson and his 14 year-old
son Dave (Secane, PA - ph: 610-522-1279 - e-mail:
dwilso3112@aol.com) caught and released 98 bass up
to 3 3/4 lbs
during 3 days of shiner and artificial plastic worm fishing with
Cap'n Ron on June 24, 25, 26, 2003. Dave also caught a 3 1/2 lb'er.
Bass were caught mostly on plastic worm in the North Shore area
of Lake Okeechobee.

Ron, Thanks
so much for the recent 3 day fishing trip. My son Dave will
never forget it, as will I. The 3-3/4 bass Dave caught has grown
in size and
weight since we got back. If you could send me a copy of the picture,
I would
greatly appreciate it. Please send it to TrackWin1@aol.com. My
computer does
not have Zip files. Give Red a extra honey bun on us. Thanks again

PA - ph: 717-432-3369) caught and released about 10 bass up to
4 lbs during 2 half day mornings of wild shiner fishing with Captain
Ron on May 10 & 11, 2002. Bass were caught in the North Shore

and Ted Hoffmayer (Telford, PA - ph: 215-258-5832) caught and released 38 bass that included
a 6 1/2 lb. and a 5 lb. "pug nose" bass during 3 days
of wild shiner fishing with Captain Ron on April 15, 16 &
17, 2002. Darryl caught the 6 1/2 lb'er and Ted caught the 5 lb'er.
All bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.
Florida
wild shiner bass fishing anglers Bob Craley and his 12 year-old
son Lee (York, PA - ph: 717-757-7696 - e-mal: Butch918@aol.com
or TeresaC@yorktwn.com) put up with gale force winds during the
first afternoon of their wild shiner bass fishing trip on October
9, 2001 with Cap'n Ron. To stay out of the wind we fished the
cuts of Harney Pond Canal where Bob's son Lee caught 2 bass up
to 4 1/2 lbs. Bob accidentally hooked into a manatee that required
the line to be cut before Bob was pulled overboard! The wind clalmed
down overnight to allow us to get out on the lake the next morning
October 10, 2001. Bob and his son Lee caught 7 bass during their
morning trip that inclued a 6 1/4 lb., 5 1/4 lb. and 4 lb'er that
were caught by Bob's son. Two channel catfish were also boated.
All fish were released except the 6 1/4 lb'er which is being mounted.
Bass and catfish were caught
in the Harney Pond Canal and North Shore areas of Lake Okeechobee.

WILD SHINER BASS FISHING REPORT:
MAY
20, 2001
Florida wild shiner trophy
bass fishing anglers Mark Muller and Matt Johnson (Phila., PA
- ph: 215-968-4364
- e-mail: TRIALZ123@aol.com) caught
and released 10 bass up to 6 lbs during a half day (May 20, 2001)
of wild shiner bass fishing with Ron's Guide Service. Bass were
caught in the Harney Pond Canal area of Lake Okeechobee.
Florida wild shiner trophy bass
fishing anglers Don McGowan (Walnut Point, PA - ph: 610-392-0538
- e-mail: dmcgowan@telcordia.com) and Ed Pollich (Farmingville,
NY - ph: 631-981-0333) caught
and released 63 bass that included a 7 1/2 lb. and a 6 lb'er during
5 days (April 23 - 27, 2001) of wild shiner bass fishing with
Cap'n Ron. Ed caught the 7 1/2 lb. and the 6 lb'er. An unusual
cold front and windy weather for this time of the year slowed
down the fishing action. We boated about 200 fish counting the
bowfin (mudfish) up to 10 lbs, catfish and gar. I fished the Point
Of The Reef out on the lake when the wind was down. Fished the
Harney Pond Canal and Moore Haven Canal areas with good results
when the wind was blowing real hard. Both the 7 1/2 lb. and the
6 lb'er were caught in the Harney Pond Canal. Ed caught the 7
1/2 lb'er on a worm (Red Shar Green Glitter) which he was casting
while we were wild shiner fishing. Seems best fishing is still
in the Harney Pond Canal area of Lake Okeechobee.
Florida
wild shiner bass fishing couple Bob and Sue Miller (Milton, PA
- ph: 570-742-3725 - e-mail: shmiller@uplink.net) caught
and released 25 bass up to 9 1/2 lbs during
2 half days of Florida wild shiner bass fishing with with Ron's

Service). All the bass were released. Fish were caught in the

Thanks for
the info Ron. I'm coming down on the 2nd to pre-fish 2 days for
my tourney on the 4th. The last time you gave me info this past
spring it helped a lot. I had 3 previous Red Man tourneys on the
lake this year and that north shore area was where about 80% of
the boats fished. I was told that area has been holding fish all
year since the winter high water. Hopefully my sluggo technique
will also do well like it did last year at this time when my brother
and I were fishing with you. I'll let you know how I do and also
what the others were doing so it might help you out with your
guide service.
Thanks again,
Dirk Oswald

Ron Relosky (Pittsburgh, PA
- ph: 412-531-9183 - e-mail: Ronre@aol.com) and Willy Sans (West
Palm Beach, FL - ph: 561-790-7877) caught 23 bass up to 4 1/2
lbs. during 1 day (Sept. 21, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with
Rons Guide Service. Fish were taken on the North Shore in
the open pockets scattered throughout the open water weed beds.
All fish were released.
Frank Zdziarski (Shickshinny, PA -
ph: 717-864-2403), Frank Oley Sr. and son Frank Jr. (Plains, PA
- ph: 914-895-8798 - e-mail: FRANK1961@aol.com) caught 63 bass
which included a 5 1/2, 6 and 7 1/2 lb'er. using shiners
during the 3 days (May 5 - 7, 1998) they fished on Lake Okeechobee
with Captain Ron. Frank Sr. landed the 5 1/2 and 6 lb'er.
Frank Zdziarski landed the 7 1/2 lb'er. Frank Jr. "did
a lot of missing". All the bass were released except
the 7 1/2 lb'er which is being mounted.
7 1/4 lb. Lake
Okeechobee trophy bass.
Guided a husband and wife team
Quincy & Carolyn Wang (Erie, PA - ph: 814-833-5057 - e-mail:
QC9295@aol.com - e-mail: QCWang@pol.net) to 18 bass up to 7 1/4 lbs.
Carolyn of course hooked and landed the 7 1/4 lb'er. All bass
were caught off of the point of the reef along the pepper grass
beds. Wild shiners were used to catch the fish. All fish were
released except the 7 1/4 trophy that Quincy is having mounted.
Steve Wible (Mc Connellsbg., PA - ph: 717-485-0305 - e-mail: bestbid@epix.net)
and Travis Buterbaugh (Norristown, PA - ph: 610-272-8934) caught
97 bass up to 3 lbs. during 1 day of fishing (June 13, 1998) with
Captain Ron. They fished with wild shiners for a few hours during
each 4 hour session of fishing. Wild shiner fishing however only
produced 3 bass while topwater fishing produced 94 bass! We fished
to dark trying to hit the 100 fish mark. Although we didn't hit
the 100 fish mark we had a great time trying. The floating Rapala
any color (size #11) caught 94 of the 97 bass landed. It seems
a slow retrieve with short erratic twitches seemed to draw the
best strikes. You will get at least 2 to 3 shots at hooking them
if you don't pull the plug away from them when they blast it.
Best hours for topwater action was from 6:30 - 8:00 a.m. and 7:00
- 8:30 p.m. All the bass which were released were caught in the
Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee.
Dennis and Mike Reilley (Chadds Ford, PA - 610-388-1193) caught
22 bass up to 5 lbs. using shiners during a day and the half of
fishing with Captain Ron.
