Florida wild shiner bass fishing anglers John Lewis (Pittston, PA - ph: 570-388-6865 - e-mail: jrlewis@epix.net) and John Lewis, Jr.(Knightdale, NC - ph: 919-217-8272) caught and released about 40 bass that included a 8 1/4 lb. and 7 1/2 lb. bass during 3 days of Florida wild shiner bass fishing with with Ron's Guide Service on March 9, 10 & 11, 2001. John Jr. caught both trophy bass. These guys fished under cold front and extremely "heavy wind" conditions during the 3 days they were here. Although they did not catch numbers they got the numbers in pounds that counted. Bass were caught in Harney Pond canal area of Lake Okeechobee.
Dave Moga (El Paso, TX - ph: 915-566-4113 - e-mail: mogadave@hotmail.com) a U.S. Army Captain and fishing buddie Keith Johnson caught about 25 bass up to 4 1/2 lbs. during 1 ½ days (Nov. 19, 20, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Rons Guide Service. Fish were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All bass were released.
Tracy Teaff (Arlinton, TX - e-mail: TTeaff@aol.com) caught 16 bass up to 4 1/2 lbs. using shiners during 2 half days (Aug. 8 & 9, 1998) offishing on Lake Okeechobee with Captain Ron. All the bass which were released were caught in the Monkey Box area of Okeechobee. The fish during the first session of fishing put a show on for us buy playfully blasting the wild shiners out of the water. These tactics which are a sight to see have a way of keeping you on your toes. During the second session of fishing the bass were more aggressive without the topwater action that is delightful to watch. Tracy who I must say is an exceptional good lady bass fishing angler and a Arlinton Texas school counselor wanted me to say hello to all of her school students in this report. Well here's a big "HELLO" from a very special counselor who's thinking of all her students even during her vacation.
Randy Powers and son Brian (Wichita Falls, TX - ph:940-322-1637 - e-mail: rpowers@wf.net) caught 17 bass up to 4 ½ lbs. using shiners during the 1 day (June 19, 1998) they fished with Captain Ron - Ron's Guide Service. All fish were which were released were caught in the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee.
Greg Wehr (Huston, TX - ph: 713-461-4929) and Mike Watts (Louisville, KY - ph: 502-245-0649) caught 20 bass up to 5 lbs. during 2 days (Oct. 28 and 29, 1998) of wild shiner fishing with Capn Ron. Bass were caught on the North Shore of Lake Okeechobee. All the bass were live released.
