Killing a wild boar with a hatchet is not an easy task. Careful footing, fast reflexes and the ability to to deliver a killing blow are key elements for a successful kill with a hatchet.
Wild boar hunters Jess Horsley and his dad Joel each bagged a wild boar during a morning of wild boar hunting with Ron's Guide Service on March 10, 2004. Jess used a hatchet to bag a large wild boar. His dad used a 45 caliber handgun to bag a trophy wild boar. They hunted the sugar cane fields in the town of Lakeport. Thay also combined 2 half days of bass fishing with their hunt. They caught and released about 15 bass up to 3 lbs during 2 half days (Mar. 8 & 9, 2004) of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service. They fished the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee. Here's a recent e-mail testimonial I received from the above wild boar hunting party:
My dad and I had a great time hunting with Dick and Donald, our guides.
They did an excellent job finding boar hogs and helping us score two boars!
Mine weighted about 145 lbs, and my fathers weighted about 200 lbs. My
dad's had 2 1/2" tusks, which he will be adding to his deer and water fowl
trophy collection! Our guides did an excellent job skinning the boars and
recommended a great local place to have the pigs processed! We had a great
time hunting and fishing with Ron's Guide Service!! We will be back, but
next time we will be back with more people!!
