FLORIDA SPRING TURKEY HUNTINGturkey hunting, florida osceola turkey hunting, florida turkey hunting, osceola turkey

The Florida Osceola wild turkey, meleagris gallopavo osceola, was named after a famous Seminole Indian chief of the early 1800's. There are to date approximately 75,000 Osceola turkeys that roam the southern portions of Florida. The Osceola turkey is the smallest and most challenging species of turkey to hunt. A mature tom turkey will only weigh 16 - 18 pounds in his peak breeding state.

TURKEY HUNTING AREA & TERRAIN
Our Florida turkey hunting is conducted on private land in Glades and Highlands county. The turkey hunting area consists of several hundred acres. which is surrounded by thousands of acres owned by other property land owners. The terrain on our land and the surrounding land around our land varies from palmetto thickets to oak trees and other hardwoods. Grass fields, cow pastures, ponds and marsh areas are scattered throughout the area.

TURKEY HUNTING METHODS
Vary from one hunter to another. Sitting very still in one spot and calling is a proven method of turkey hunting that will likely produce good results. Trampling through the woods from one end of the property to the other in hopes of sneaking up on a turkey is the poorest method of turkey hunting there is!

We do not provide a guide on our turkey hunts, nor do we guarantee a kill, or that you will find signs of game in the area, or that game will be in the area, or even be seen!

No guarantees, express or implied, are made that our turkey hunting package will meet all of the hunter's expectations, specifically regarding the hunting area, lack of game or signs that game are in the area, productiveness, hunting conditions or weather conditions.

No guarantees
are made that neighboring land owners who's land surrounds the hunting area you will be hunting in will not be working on their land mowing, plowing, bulldozing, removing trees by chainsaw, burning brush, working live stock or any other chores land owners do.
Turkeys and other wildlife are not scared off by these type of chores that are done throughout the year which they have come habituated acclimated to.

The mere fact of just being in the woods enjoying nature, watching birds and other wildlife is an aspect of hunting that is very rewarding in itself.

TURKEY DECOYS
May be used in Florida. There's no question that the Osceola tom turkey's eye sight is sharper than any animal in the woods. A turkey decoy can be very helpful in bringing a weary tom in close. They also help in keeping the tom's attention focused on the decoy and not towards the caller.
